So I stop into the local candy store to talk to William and he asks me if I can hang around for a few minutes. In walks a group of tourists on a Matlacha tour. The more than charming, William, tells a delightful positive "spirit" story about the building he and his partner now occupy. Then he plugs my book, Through Pelican Eyes which is set in Matlacha and Pine Island.
The next thing I know all books are sold out and I'm thanking everyone and rushing out the door to make the luncheon talk of another local author.
Much of life in Matlacha happens hap and chance. Another reason I love the place.
