Bert’s Pine Bay Gallery is excited to present awarding-winning local author jd daniels, as she celebrates the release of her third Jessy Murphy mystery novel, “Mayhem in Matlacha”.

jd daniels has published two previous Jesse Murphy novels.  Her fiction and poetry have appeared in various literary publications. She received a prize for poetry from Emerson College/Cambridge University, is listed in the Iowa Arts and Poets & Writers Directories and is an active member of PEN Women of Southwest Florida. Her poetry has been choreographed to dance and has inspired painters and clay artists at Art Poems, a Southwest Florida poet/artist collaboration.  Her book, The Old Wolf Lady: A Biography was published in 2005 by a grant from The Iowa Arts Council.   daniels was awarded her doctoral degree for her collection of poems from Drake University, Currents That Puncture and is co-founder and an editor of Prairie Wolf Press Review. After her June reading at Prairie Lights Bookstore in Iowa City, Iowa, Say Yes, her book of poetry published in 2013, was listed No. 1 on an Iowa City/Cedar Rapids best-seller list.

Matlacha and Pine Island have been inspiring her writing for over twelve years.

The public is invited to attend a Grand Celebration that is worthy of this huge event in the author’s life  at a Launch Party hosted by Bert’s Pine Bay Gallery in Matlacha on Friday Night, January 13 from 5:30-7:30.  All of daniels’ works will be offered for sale and the author will be available to autograph them.

To further highlight the release, daniels will discuss her writing life and perform a reading of the mystery at CW Fudge Factory on Thursday, Jan. 19th at 6 pm.
